Drawers and Drawers

Established & Sons are a great UK design company, known for items such as their font clocks.
One of their designers, Shay Alkalay, has created his Raw Edges drawer unit - designed to move beyond the typical drawers that only move out in one direction, these drawers move both forward and back, while "floating" in a tower. So handy for those of us that always have socks stuck in the back of the drawer! I do quite like the colors - reminds me of the more darker spectrum of a Crayola box.

T.shelf

My friend Tara is always emailing me interesting furniture and design ideas for my loft, as organization can be overwhelming in such a large and open space. Her recent email led me to the work of J1 Studio, who creates this very geometric shelving unit, the T.shelf . It almost reminds me of a vine climbing the wall - or an ever expanding spider web. I think it's pretty interesting nonetheless and would be cool if several units could combine and reach all over the place - nice to see somebody who can create a shelving unit that works around the furniture you currently own.

Is West Elm Embracing Mid Century Modernism?

When I got the new West Elm catalog in the mail today, it really surprised me (in a good way), when I discovered this new table and chairs that they have for sale. Considering WE leans toward modern furniture with an Asian influence, I was impressed to see these new designs - very clean, simple, elegant, kind of Danish almost. These chairs are surprisingly affordable too, which is nice, under $200 each. Seeing this makes me want to chuck away my dining chairs I impulse purchased from Calypso home.
